to wash or not to wash...

I've been trying to take better care of the car recently (despite the engine light that came on yesterday). Part of this involves cleaning the inside of the car and thanks goes to Ally for helping me Lysol the dashboard. The other part involves cleaning the outside of it more regularly; washing it to be specific.

I was holding off on washing it because I couldn't understand why anyone would bother when they get dirty again almost immediately. But I was shamed into it when a middle aged man in his sparkling Audi sent me despairing looks of pity when I tried to Lysol the dash while stopped at a red light. I was embarrassed so I vowed to wash my car at the next available moment.

Today I learned the error of my ways and that nothing comes of vanity. I also learned why people don't wash their cars in winter. Yes, they get dirty again in a matter of days. But more than that, locks freeze shut. I spent a good five minutes staring at my trunk today trying to figure out what physical transformation could have happened to my key to make it not work. I tried 3 different locks to no avail before I finally grasped that the "suped-up" ultimate wax and wash which I had splurged on to make my car look prettier had frozen my locks shut.

Here's hoping they melt and I make it to work tomorrow...
